Lusk Lodging Tax Board




The Lusk Lodging Tax Board is authorized pursuant to Wyoming State Statutes §39-6-412 through 417. The Lusk Lodging Tax board was created to provide for the promotion of travel and tourism within Niobrara County and to administer the expenditure and distribution of lodging sales tax revenues. In 2025 the voters of Lusk, Wy approved a 2% lodging tax for the purpose of promoting local travel and tourism, pursuant to Wyoming State Statute §39-15-204(a)(ii). Every four years at the general election Town residents are asked whether to continue that lodging tax, pursuant to §39-15-203(a)(v)(C). The Lusk Lodging Tax Board consists of five board members and a director.

Lodging Tax Grant:

Eligibility: Entities eligible to apply for grants must have the capability of attracting visitors to Niobrara County and must have projects that will promote tourism within Niobrara County. Niobrara County and municipalities can utilize these funds for educational materials and other specific tourism related objectives, including those identified as likely to facilitate tourism or enhance the visitor experience, provided that none of these funds shall be spent for capital construction or improvements.
Goals: The goals of the grant program are to attract more visitors to Niobrara County, provide meaningful visitor resident interaction and positive benefits, support events that offer local, regional, and national public relations value, encourage collaboration between event producers, and promote self-sufficiency of the event.
How the Grant Program Works: Applicant will submit a completed application by the appropriate deadline. Applicants have the option to present their project(s) to the Lodging Tax Board at a scheduled meeting (must contact Morgan Nolan to get on the agenda in advance), or mail them to the Chamber of Commerce/Visitors Center.If approved by the Lusk Lodging Tax Board you will be notified. The Grant Program will reimburse funds based on submittal of paid receipts and a Final Report of the project after event completion. All invoices must be marked paid.

The board meets the second Monday of each month at 5:00 PM at the Niobrara County Chamber of Commerce/ Visitors' Center at 302 S. Main Unit 9 Lusk,Wy
